Homemade Toffee

This recipe was given to me by a very special friend who is no longer with us.  I think about her whenever I make this toffee.  It is a real crowd pleaser.

holiday dessert recipes

  • 2 cubes butter -melt then
  • Add:1 Cup sugar and 1/4 cup water

Put lid on for 30 seconds until rolling boil

Then Add:

  • 1/2 cup chopped almonds

Continue cooking on medium-high heat, stirring constantly for 6-7 minutes or until mixture looks like peanut butter. (may take a little longer)  I always open the peanut butter and compare until the color is exactly the same.  I do not put chocolate on mine, but you can spread chocolate on top if you like.

Pour onto buttered pan to cool.  After completely cool, break into pieces.
