Visit Singapore

Singapore Marina Bay at night

Singapore is one of the most beautiful, clean, crime-free countries that I have ever visited. There is so much to see and do in such a small space. In fact, I could return there often and never be bored.

Gardens by the Bay

One of the most beautiful places to visit is Gardens by the Bay. There are two domes, The Cloud Forest and the Flower Dome, each unique and so beautiful. But the most amazing to me was how they transform The Super Tree Grove at night. The synchronized lights and music make it look like the trees are moving. It is truly incredible.

The flowers are changed every quarter with an entirely new theme. It is simply breathtaking. It is hard to pick a favorite, but I think mine was the Christmas display. Magnificent!!

Singapore Zoo

Set in a rainforest environment, Singapore Zoo is home to over 2,800 animals from over 300 species of mammals, birds and reptiles. The park also boasts the world’s first free-ranging orang utan habitat in a zoo. You will have endless fun as you enjoy the many interesting animal presentations, and see the animals up close and personal. I Loved It!!

Marina Bay Sands

Marina Bay is truly a breathtaking sight at night. Riding in a small boat around it at night was amazing. The Marina Bay Sands is a large landmark hotel that looks like a large boat on top of pillars, high up in the air. Not to mention, the view from the top is unforgettable.

Orchid Garden

We love visiting the incredible National Orchid Garden. I am never disappointed, no matter how many times I return. In short, it is truly magnificent. Flowers are one of my great loves, so this is definitely a “Happy Place” for me.

Merlion

Singapore country of beauty

The Merlion is the official mascot of Singapore, which is depicted as a mythical creature with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, spouting water from its mouth. This is the Symbol of Past and Future. The Past being a humble fishing village and the Present being a lion boldly looking to the future.

Brief History of Singapore

Singapore has been inhabited for many centuries, by many different people and cultures, from a tiny fishing village to a grand metropolitan city/country. The most recent change happened when it became part of Malaysia. In 1963, Malaysia was formed, comprising of the Federation of Malaya, Singapore, Sarawak and North Borneo (now Sabah). This action was meant to foster closer ties. However, Singapore’s merger proved unsuccessful, and less than two years later on 9 August 1965, it left Malaysia to become an independent and sovereign democratic nation.

Because we were able to visit Singapore for their National Day Celebration which celebrates their 52nd birthday as a country, we saw quite an amazing sight.  They had a large celebration with tens of thousands of people watching fireworks, drones, jets and many other things.

You will see many slices of Singapore’s multi-cultural, colonial and wartime past preserved in and around the city. Actually, you can visit monuments, museums and memorials, and for a real trip through time, take a walk along a heritage trail.

Of the many places I have visited, I will say that Singapore is one of my favorites. I highly recommend visiting Singapore, if you have the opportunity. In fact, visit Singapore, it continues to delight.
